Declare war and let them attack on favourable ground and push everything into the one battle (look if you have a very good defence general and attach it to the stack - be careful about the other stacks, the game loves to overwrite your generals by the new ones so empty them out) - you will win, despite them pushing a million guys into battle, and will slaughter hundred thousands, granting you like 50 warscore immiadetly. If you have infantry (instead of milita), and maybe even teched a bit through some stuff (most important military tactics), mobilized and build your armies, you should have a formidable size.
